This summer might not be what many expected but the National Theatre has announced that it will be treating us to a collection of its shows on the big screen.

For the past 16 weeks, the National Theatre’s ‘At Home’ series has been streaming free productions on YouTube. Reaching over 15 million people, if each view were an audience member, the venue’s Olivier Theatre would be filled 13,000 times. If performed daily, this would equal a 35 year-long run.

However, the level of donations through YouTube has been incredibly low. And with many theatres still waiting for government help, ticketed screenings are far more financially viable.

The selection of shows include:

Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch

All My Sons with Bill Pullman and Sally Field

Fleabag with Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Hansard with Lindsay Duncan and Alex Jennings

The Lehman Trilogy

King Lear with Ian McKellen

No Man's Land with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart

Cyrano de Bergerac with James McAvoy

Present Laughter with Andrew Scott

A Midsummer Night's Dream with Gwendoline Christie

Coriolanus with Tom Hiddleston

A View from the Bridge with Mark Strong

One Man, Two Guvnors with James Corden

Frankenstein with Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch

The Audience with Helen Mirren (only available internationally)

All locations and times are available through the National Theatre Live and Showcase Cinema websites. Tickets cost £5.
