Romantics Anonymous to embark on digital tour
Emma Rice’s hit musical Romantics Anonymous will return this September with a unique ‘digital tour’. Venues across the world will sell tickets for a live-stream of the production across the month with each night tailored to specific locations. Most of the original cast will be reprising their roles and by forming a bubble, they will be able to perform without social distancing.
Based on the French film Les Émotifs Anonymes, Romantics Anonymous charts the love story between two chocolate makers who are too anxious to share their feelings with each other. The show premiered at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in 2017, before receiving a revival at the Bristol Old Vic earlier this year. A US tour was also planned, before being cancelled due to coronavirus.
Here in the UK, partner theatres include: Belgrade Theatre, Brighton Dome, Bristol Old Vic, The Old Vic, Curve, Derby Theatre, Eden Court Highlands, Exeter Northcott, HOME, Lighthouse Pool, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, Marlowe Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, Oxford Playhouse, Royal & Derngate, The Festival Theatre, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Theatr Clwyd, Storyhouse, The Lowry, York Theatre Royal, Theatre Royal Bath, Theatre Royal Nottingham, and Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Filmed live from Bristol Old Vic, audiences will be able to see the show from 22-26 September, depending on their local area. Tickets cost £15 and are on sale at each individual venue. Captioned and audio-described versions will also be available.
