New live-action Cinderella film resumes production in the UK
We have definitely seen a fair few Cinderella adaptations over the years but this one does feel particularly special. Sony’s new live action film resumed production in the UK this week after being forced to stop filming in March due to the lockdown.
Written and directed by Kay Cannon, this modern re-telling of the classic tale stars Camila Cabello as Cinderella, Idina Menzel as the Evil Stepmother, Billy Porter as the Fairy Godmother, Pierce Brosnan as the King, Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Robert, Minnie Driver as Queen Beatrice and John Mulaney, James Corden & Romesh Ranganathan as the mice-turned-footmen.
Low level shooting has recommenced just outside of London with safety procedures in place for all involved. All actors and crew must wear masks in rehearsals and there has been no mixing among production departments. Social distancing is of course in place along with daily disinfection, contact tracing and safety training given.
Filming is expected to continue until the end of September. The release date was originally February 2021 but this is expected to change because of post-production requirements.
