More casting announced for Dear Evan Hansen film adaptation

Exciting casting news for fans of Dear Evan Hansen! Joining the previously announced Ben Platt (as Evan) and Amandla Stenberg (as Alana) in the film, will be Colton Ryan and Nik Dodani, playing the roles of Connor and Jared respectively.

Kaitlyn Dever is also rumoured to be starring in the adaptation.

Dodani stars in the Netflix original series Atypical and his film credits include the psychological thriller, Escape Room.

Ryan’s previous credits include FX’s The Americans, Showtime’s Homeland, Apple Music Series’s Little Voice and a lead role in feature film, The Social Ones, directed by Laura Kosann. Before Broadway shutdown, Ryan was starring in Girl From the North Country and he has previously understudied Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen.

The film will be directed by Stephen Chbosky, with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel producing through Marc Platt Productions. Pasek and Paul (who wrote the original music and lyrics) will be executive producers and Steven Levenson, who wrote the script for the stage, will be doing the same again for the film.
