It has been announced today that the highly anticipated summer run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has been delayed due to the members of the company being told to isolate.

An enforced suspension of rehearsals has meant that performances have had to be pushed back to 12 July, instead of the original planned opening date of 1 July.

A statement said: “The rehearsal process for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat has been interrupted due to members of the company having to isolate in line with current guidance. Performances of the London Palladium will now begin on Monday 12 July. These performances will operate in line with current social distancing guidelines for theatres. To manage these measures, and due to the huge public demand to see this production, we are delighted to confirm that an additional 11 performances have now been added to the season.”

This production is not the first to be disrupted by Covid cases or alerts. Recently, the Hope Mill Theatre was forced to cancel a new musical due to positive test results and Cirencester’s Barn Theatre have had to suspend performances of Jeeves and Wooster: In Perfect Nonsense for more than week after members of the company were forced to isolate.
