It has been announced that the upcoming star-studded Cinderella musical movie is set to premiere on Amazon in lieu of a cinematic release.

According to Deadline, the film is expected to be released on Amazon Prime later this year, although an exact date remains unknown, with the studio said to be deciding against a theatrical release due to continuing uncertainties over a cinema audience return.

The film stars Camila Cabello as Cinderella, Billy Porter as the fairy Godmother, Idina Menzel as the evil stepmother, James Corden as ‘James’, Romesh Ranganathan as ‘Romesh’, Missy Elliot as Town Crier, John Mulaney as ‘John;, Minnie Driver as Queen Beatrice, Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Robert, Charlotte Spencer as Narissa, Tallulah Greive as Princess Gwen, Fra Fee as Hench, Luke Latchman as Griff, Mary Higgins as Princess Laura, Pierce Brosnan as King Rowan and Beverley Knight in a yet to be confirmed role.

The production of this film was delayed by the pandemic, but filming was able to resume after some restrictions were lifted. A release date is yet unknown.

The film features a screenplay by Kay Cannon, who also directs, and is based on an idea by Corden. Leading lady Camila Cabello has penned tunes for the movie.
