Everyone who is anyone pays a visit to Ellen’s Stardust Diner when they visit New York. Their world famous singing waitstaff have become iconic over the years so it would be catastrophic if this theatrical institution fell at the hands of Covid-19. Sadly this is looking like a possibility.

According to a recent photo in the I Love NYC Facebook group, the diner currently owes over $618,000 in rent and if the debt is not settled by 7 August, the landlord will assume possession of the premises.

Ellen’s Stardust Diner has been entertaining and feeding the masses since its opening in 1987 and currently has more than 200 employees on the books.

Earlier this year, a GoFundMe page was created to help the diner’s employees who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. To donate, please click here.

There is still time so we have everything crossed that this legendary restaurant can be saved.
