Back to the Future the Musical opens in London in June 2021
Great Scott! The West End debut of Back to the Future the Musical has now been confirmed for June 2021.
The show made its premiere at the Manchester Opera House in February but due to Covid-19, it closed after just two weeks. A London transfer was always planned however, and it will now succeed Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre.
Based on the classic film, teenager Marty McFly accidentally finds himself transported from 1985 to 1955. But before he can return home, he must ensure that his parents fall in love before time changes forever. It was an instant hit upon its release 35 years ago and has since spawned sequels, video games, comic books, and even theme park rides.
The new musical features a book by Robert Zemekis and Bob Gale, who created the original screenplay, with Alan Silvestri returning to compose. Iconic songs such as ‘The Power of Love’ and ‘Johnny B. Good’ will of course be included, as well as a collection of original tunes. It opened to great reviews in the north, so it should be right at home on The Strand!
If only we could travel into the future to see it now!
