Today the Shaftesbury Theatre, currently home to & Juliet, announced that it will hold an online concert in celebration of its beloved Stage Door Keeper, Harry Gabriel. It will feature songs from the Shaftesbury’s musical theatre past, as well as stories about the man himself.

Gabriel started his career at the theatre back in 1980, initially joining the Front of House team before moving to the Stage Door. He’s the first face that many people see when they arrive at the building and he has become extremely well-loved across the West End. He was even presented with the 2017 Olivier Be Inspired Award in recognition of his passion and hard work.

The event, directed by Giles Terera, will feature a wide variety of performers who have connections to both Harry and the theatre. The list of special guests include: Judi Dench, Anthony Hopkins, Beverley Knight, Eddie Izzard, Amanda Holden and many more.

Hello Harry! A Celebration of 40 Years at Stage Door will be streamed live on Wednesday 15 July, though the YouTube Channel is currently TBC. Donations will also be collected for Cancer Research UK, Black Lives Matter and The Black Curriculum.

If you have any memories with Harry that you’d like to share, you can send them to feedback@shaftesburytheatre.com. Or you can send in a photo with a sign saying ‘Hello Harry’ or ‘Thank You Harry!’ to be included in a special montage.
