Workshop planned for SMASH musical with planned 2024 Broadway opening

The musical adaptation of NBC’s Smash is planning a workshop for the summer, with eyes on a Broadway opening in 2024.

Currently in the works, Bob Martin and Rick Elice are writing the book for the musical, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who wrote much of the series’ score) and choreographer Joshua Bergasse also on board.

The stage production is thought to be titled either Smash, A New Musical or Smash: The Musical.
