Bringing outdoor arts to those most affected by Covid-19: WITHOUT WALLS tours work to areas with low access to arts activity
The delay to step four in the reopening roadmap has meant an even longer road back to normality for the theatre industry but outdoor arts continues to provide covid-safe entertainment. Without Walls are bringing outdoor performances to audiences across the UK, with a special focus on communities without high-quality arts activity and those most affected by Covid-19, going beyond major cities to reach new audiences.
This touring programme will see 37 productions, all commissions and supported by Without Walls, and will tour to locations such as Basingstoke Festival, The Arches Festivals in Worcester, Grimsby’s Festival of the Sea, SO Festival in Lincolnshire, Arts by the Sea Festival in Bournemouth, Theatre Orchards Whiligig! And Arts + Health Week, and Appetites The Big Feast in Stoke on Trent, with more dates to be announced.
These outdoor productions will help to increase accessibility within the arts with audiences able to access the shows in open, public spaces which traditional indoor performances do not allow. Accessibility will be further increased with activity packs available to engage d/deaf and neurodivergent communities, as well as providing subsidised and free tickets to low-income families.
Without Walls will also be bringing 21 brand new commissions to major festivals including Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, Hat Fair, Timber Festival, Certain Blacks – Ensemble Festival, Stockton International Riverside Festival and Just So.
