As part of its reopening season, Warwick Arts Centre has announced what shows will return to its stage this autumn. Following a four-year transformation Warwick Arts Centre is due to open on Friday 1 October, with the extensive upgrades featuring a more welcoming foyer, three new cinemas, a new restaurant, and a repositioned Mead Gallery.

‘The Midnight Bell’ by the UKs most lauded choreographer Sir Matthew Bourne OBE will staged from 10-13 November and is a much-anticipated new production inspired by the work of writer Patrick Hamilton on a lonely-hearts club in Soho.

A skilful reimagination of H G Wells ‘War of the Worlds’ famed 1938 radio adaption by Orson Welles will be presented by Rhum and Clay and pose the question on the allure and implications of ‘fake news’ and could todays savvy internet generation be as susceptible as the US listeners in 1938 believing they were witnessing a real Martian attack. This will run 13 – 16 October.

Also, lined up is Mercury Prize nominated contemporary jazz trio ‘GoGo Penguin’ on 28 October, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain will visit on 14 November and songwriter John Grant whose fifth solo album ‘Boy From Michigan’ recently hit the UK Top 10 will open the venue on October 1.

The Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of Judith Kerr’s family favourite ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ will be performed from 26 -28 October, trip hop pioneer Tricky will take to the stage on November 3.

Some big names in UK comedy will also be making appearances with Sarah Millican (21-24 October), Alan Carr (26-27 November) and Jimmy Carr (21-23 December) all performing. Joining them will also be controversial Britain’s Got Talent 2020 finalist Nabil Abdulrashid.

Discussing the announcement, Warwick Arts Centre's Director, Doreen Foster, said: "We can't wait to welcome visitors back to the Arts Centre. We've got a great line-up of inspiring shows - from boundary pushing innovators to much loved family classics - but these are just the start. We'll be revealing more over the coming months, including our events for the Coventry2021 programme, and a chance to take a look around our transformed home before it fully opens."

Tickets for selected shows are available from Warwick Arts Centre’s Box Office.
