Traverse Theatre hosts month-long festival celebrating playwriting throughout February

First Stages Festival

Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre will launch its First Stage Festival next month, celebrating playwriting and storytelling, and nurturing creative talent.

The festival will include online workshops, Q&A sessions, streamed play readings and practical sessions for novice writers through to veteran theatremakers.

Highlights include a live workshop with Simon Stephens, looking at how to tackle big ideas and the best way to develop characters, a session on writing from autobiography with Hannah Lavery, a Q&A with Enda Walsh and a free four-part workshop for first-time writers with Meghan Tyler.

The majority of the events will be ticketed, but a limited number of £1 tickets are available for those on government benefits and allowances.
