Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Nottingham unveil a star-studded reopening season

School Of Rock

The Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Nottingham have today announced a star-studded line-up for its re-opening in June and through until Christmas.

The first performances will be socially distanced with ‘welcome back’ comedy nights from pantomime favourite Ben Nickless (11 & 12 June), along with all seven Kanneh-Mason siblings (13 June) and dance company Rambert2 ( 16 & 17 June). Once Government restrictions lift, hopefully on 21 June, the venue will then welcome big name musicals for the first time such as Six, Heathers, School of Rock and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

There will also be the return of several much-loved musicals in Blood Brothers, Grease and Chicago. The Royal Concert Hall will also welcome stand-up comedians: Paul Smith, Jimmy Carr, Rob Brydon, Chris Ramsey, Ross Noble, John Bishop and Daniel Sloss.

If you are looking for music artists then Del Amitri, Jason Donovan, Billy Ocean, David Essex, Paloma Faith, Steve Hackett, Belinda Carlisle, Michael Bolton, Level 42, Collabro, Cliff Richard, Wet Wet Wet, Seasick Steve, Jools Holland, Russell Watson, Deacon Blue, The Stylistics, Il Divo, The Human League and many more, will all be performing in the coming months, with every music playlist covered.

There will also be a variety of different stars gracing the venue from the world of sports, arts and literature. The team from A Question of Sport will host their final shows, with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Grayson Perry, Adam Kay, Jonathan Agnew, Ant Middleton, Alistair Cook and Caitlin Moran amongst the other stars to take to the stage.

If play’s are your thing, you can find Eastenders icon Adam Woodyatt in Peter James’ stage thriller Looking Good Dead, and the Theatre Royal’s perennial favourite The Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season will return for a four-week run.

A host of Strictly Come Dancing stars will take to the floor of the Royal Concert Hall, with Aljaž Škorjanec, Pasha Kovalev and Graziano Di Prima in Here Come The Boys , Dianne Buswell, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, and Johannes Radebe in Strictly: The Professionals, and AJ Pritchard and his brother Curtis in AJ and Curtis’ Big Night Out.

Dance fans will also be glad to see the return of Riverdance in its new 25th Anniversary show, alongside Northern Ballet’s eagerly anticipated premiere of Merlin.

With the UK missing out on pantomimes last year, Nottingham is bound to have pulled out the stops for this year’s run of Robin Hood, for which the cast will be announced soon.
