Theatre returns to Manchester this October at world’s first drive-in covered theatre

Power Ballads Live

The first two shows coming to the world’s first drive-in theatre and Manchester’s newest entertainment venue, DriveINSIDE, have been announced.

Tightrope Productions Ltd are thrilled to employ Manchester artists and musicians who will present Queen by Candlelight on 2 & 3 October and Power Ballads Live! on 9 October inside Europe’s largest mega tent, which will provide an immersive experience for 800 people. Unlike other drive-in set-ups happening around the UK, this one is completely under cover.

The first of the two sing-along shows, Queen by Candlelight, is a brand new production and has already sold out two performances at The Monastery in Manchester at the end of the year. It will feature West End vocalists and a live band performing Queen’s biggest hits.

Power Ballads Live! packed out the O2 Ritz last year and sees 4 epic rock vocalists performing with a 16-piece band. They will perform some of the most iconic and best loved power ballads of all time, including ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, ‘I’d Do Anything For Love’, ‘I Will Always Love You’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Co-producer and Manchester based actor, Joel Harper-Jackson, most recently starred as Charlie in the UK tour of Kinky Boots. He said: “As a Manchester born performer, I am so thrilled to finally get back to work with these two incredible shows! We promise you an unforgettable night to finally let your hair down and sing along with us in this really exciting new venue!

Harper-Jackson will perform in both shows and will joined by West End stars Rory Taylor (Rent, Thriller Live), Simon Gordon (Bat Out of Hell, Girl From The North Country) and Sandra Regan in Queen by Candlelight, and then Simon Gordon, Sandra Regan and Eloise Davies in Power Ballads Live!

DriveINSIDE is located in the heart of Manchester’s theatre scene, opposite Home and behind Manchester Central and The Bridgewater Hall on Medlock Street.
