Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre production of The Snow Queen to be streamed online
It has been announced that the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s production of The Snow Queen will be made available to stream online from noon on 23 December through to midnight 31 January via the venue’s website.
This is the first time that this famous North Yorkshire theatre has ventured into filming any of its productions. Tickets cost £12, which will allow access to the filmed version for one week from the first click of the play button.
The show, which is completely sold out, runs at the Scarborough venue live until 31 December, with this adaptation of the original Hans Christian Anderson being a version of The Snow Queen that you’ve never seen before, with Polly Lister performing in the one-women show.
The show’s director, Paul Robinson, who is also the venue’s Artistic Director, said that he hopes the film will be the first of many. He also added: “Exploring the immense possibilities afforded by filming our work was part of our successful bid to the government’s Culture Recovery Fund. Nothing will ever replace the magic of live theatre, but ultimately we want to make our work accessible to a wider audience across the UK and, indeed, the world.”
