Sadler’s Wells announces socially distanced Autumn season and digital content extension

The Little Match Girl

An exciting Autumn programme of live dance and digital content has been announced by Sadler’s Wells, including a Christmas run of The Little Match Girl.

New pieces by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant, Yuri Possokhov, Stina Quagebeur and Arielle Smith will be presented from 19-21 November, as part of a commission by English National Ballet, whilst Overflow by Alexander Whitley will receive its London premiere on 27 & 28 November. Breakin’ Convention will also host a takeover event, Social DisDancing, on 11 & 12 December, presenting the best in hip hop dance.

Arthur Pita’s The Little Match Girl also run on the main stage to socially distanced live audiences from 17-27 December.

Artistic Director and Chief Executive, Alistair Spalding, said: "We are so pleased to present this wide-ranging new programme of socially distanced performances and digital dance across this autumn and Christmas season. We’ve worked tirelessly with colleagues and partners across the sector to offer audiences world-class dance in new and innovative ways.

"Getting to the stage where we can welcome audiences, artists and colleagues back to our theatre feels like a huge achievement, in light of the continuing pandemic, and I’m cautiously optimistic that these socially distant performances are just the first steps on the path of reopening fully."

It has also been announced that the venue’s digital offering has been extended, featuring screenings of performances with companies including Hofesh Shechter Company, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company and Candoco Dance Company.
