Running order of Dancing Nation announced ahead of digital celebration

The final event running order of the previously reported Sadler’s Wells and BBC Arts’ digital celebration of world-class dance, Dancing Nation, has been revealed ahead of its stream from 12pm GMT on 28 January.

Those tuning in from the UK can access the event’s three episodes via BBC iPlayer, whilst others can view on the Sadler’s Wells website.

Episode One will include performances of New Adventures’ Matthew Bourne’s Spitfire (an advertisement divertissement), Candoco Dance Company’s Face In, Breakin’ Convention/Jonzi D’s Window Shopping, HUMANHOOD’s Orbis (excerpt) and English National Ballet’s Hollow.

The episode will also feature interviews with Alistair Spalding, Artistic Director Sadler’s Wells; Charlotte Derbyshire, Artistic Director Candoco Dance Company; Jonzi D, Artistic Director Breakin' Convention; and Stina Quagebeur, Choreographer with English National Ballet.

Episode Two sees performances of Humanhood’s SPHERA (Excerpt), Far From the Norm / Botis Seva’s BLKDOG (Excerpt) , Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Lazuli Sky (Excerpt), Oona Doherty’s Hope Hunt and the Journey into Lazarus (Excerpt), Boy Blue’s Blak Whyte Gray (Excerpt) and Akram Khan with Natalia Osipova in Mud of Sorrow: Touch.

There will also be interviews with HUMANHOOD; Birmingham Royal Ballet Artistic Director Carlos Acosta and choreographer Will Tucket; and choreographer Oona Doherty.

The final episode features performances of Matsena Performance Theatre’s Shades of Blue (Excerpt), Northern Ballet’s States of Mind, Shobana Jeyasingh’s Dance Contagion (Excerpt) and Rambert Rouge (Excerpt); plus interviews with choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh and Helen Shute, Chief Executive of Rambert.
