Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY THE MUSICAL to embark on UK and Ireland Tour

Get ready to re-enter a world of pure imagination, Besties: the new production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory The Musical will embark on a UK tour following its run at Leeds Playhouse for the Christmas season!

The tour will start in Milton Keynes on 9 February 2023 until 5 March before heading to His Majesty’s Aberdeen (15 – 26 March), Edinburgh Playhouse (29th March – 15 April), Norwich Theatre Royal (19 -29 April), Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff ( 3 – 20 May) and Canterbury Marlowe Theatre from 24 May until 3 June.

The Leeds run begins on the 18th November 2022 through to 28 January 2023, with further tour schedules and casting to be announced.

Based on Roald Dahl’s celebrated novel and the Warner Brother’s 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the musical features music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and a book by David Greig. Willy Wonka opens his factory to five lucky children who can find Golden Tickets, including loveable Charlie. Awaiting them is a day full of delights, both edible and incredible, but for four of them, they may just discover that things aren’t as sweet as they seem…

Originally opening in the West End in 2013 where it ran until 2017, the show won two Olivier Awards, and set records for the highest weekly gross in the West End. The musical has also been on Broadway and toured the US and Australia.

The new production starting in Leeds will be directed by James Brining and designed by Simon Higlett, and is produced by Neal Street Productions & Playful Productions.
