HighRise Theatre have announced that their production of The Concrete Jungle Book will be coming to The Pleasance, London from 25 May – 11 June.

Written and directed by Dominic Garfield, with musical direction and the score co-written by Kwame Kwei-Armah JR aka (KZ the Producer), it tells the story of Mo(wgli), as she navigates her way through relationships, unstable housing conditions and hostile creatures, amongst the jungle of tower blocks, trying to find the parental figures she has always longed for.

Using the show to explore displacement, refugeehood, minority culture, discrimination, social challenges and youth culture set to a background of Hip Hop and Grime music, with the cast a living example of diversity.

It’s aimed at a wide audience despite its new genre of music and received critical acclaim at The Edinburgh Festival in 2017.

The cast includes Joseph RA Lindsay (Bagheera), Michael Mbozo (Kaa/Hitman/Matthew), Che Campbell (Jeff/Luke/Sniper), Che Gordon (Trevor/Tyler/Clipse), Jack Boal (Pete/Sticky Nicky/Louie Slippaz), Nicky Rose Roshini (Mo(wgli)), Lauryn Louise (Miss Matthews/Manic/Dotty) and Lesley Rietta Cobbina (Balloo).
