Review: LEA SALONGA - DREAM AGAIN, Royal Albert Hall (Tour)

Usually to give a show five stars, it has to really blow you away and even then there’s often cogitating on it before settling on five stars. Lea Salonga’s Dream Again tour on the other hand, like her voice, is an effortless five star splendour.

It was a real privilege to be at the Royal Albert Hall to witness this show and Salonga certainly did not disappoint. Utterly charming, phenomenally talented and the general production value of the show is stunning.

Now, DONT GET US STARTED ON SET LIST! We feel like it was specifically engineered to make us cry for two hours straight. As well as all the songs you’d hope to see, we were treated to others including ‘Quiet Uptown’, ‘Somewhere’, and ‘Maybe This Time’. One of the highlights of the night is a medley tribute to the late great Stephen Sondheim that leaves your hairs standing on end.

Cuffe & Taylor are leading the way in musical concerts. It’s exciting to see them entering the musical theatre producing market with The Cher Show and the launch announced earlier this week of Hey Duggee with the BBC and Kenny Wax. The future is looking extremely bright!

Lea Salonga has had a glittering career already, and her Dream Again tour demonstrates two things: firstly, she’s still at the top of her game and secondly, she is FAR from finished yet!

The goddess of musical theatre shines her light on us mere mortals again, we are not worthy!

A night of pure euphoria.

***** Five stars
