Best known for her roles in the early Carry On films, actress Rosalind Knight has sadly passed away aged 87.

Knight appeared in Carry On Teacher and Carry On Nurse, with other film credits including About A Boy, The Lady in the Van and two of the St Trinian’s films. She also played Beryl in three series’ of sitcom Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and was more recently seen in Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner.

In addition to these screen roles, she also performed on stage; most notably playing Celia in the 1961 RSC production of As You Like It, where she starred alongside Vanessa Redgrave and was directed by her husband, Michael Elliott.

Our thoughts are with her family including her daughters, theatre director Marianne Elliott and actress Susannah Elliot, and her friends at this difficult time.
