Tony Award-winning choreographer, actress and dancer Ann Reinking has sadly passed away at the age of 71.

Reinking replaced Gwen Verdon in hit musical Chicago in 1977; a production directed by Bob Fosse, with whom both women were romantically involved with at various points. In 1996, she choreographed and reprised her role as Roxie in the show’s revival, which won a Tony Award for choreography the following year.

She played Fosse’s girlfriend and muse in the 1970 autobiographical film, All That Jazz, and the time was recently documented in award-winning 2020 mini-series, Fosse/Verdon.

Her other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Sweet Charity, Over Here! and Goodtime Charley.

The cause of Reinking’s death is currently unknown.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
