Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Bridge Theatre suspend performances due to positive Covid-19 cases

Bach and Romeo

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and the Bridge Theatre are the latest venues forced to suspend performances for self-isolation purposes.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has cancelled performances of Romeo and Juliet until 21 July and is due to end three days later on 24 July.

Artistic director Timothy Sheader and executive director James Pidgeon said: "We are devastated to be forced to cancel 10 performances of Romeo and Juliet due to self-isolation instructions within the acting company, particularly given the rigorous, guideline-conforming Covid-19 safety measures and procedures we have in place, and the fact that the individuals in question have all tested negative for the virus.

"The financial implications are significant for a non-regularly funded charitable organisation like Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Whilst we welcome the fact that our outdoor theatre can once again operate at 100% capacity from Monday July 19, we do need an alternative to automatic self-isolation for our acting company and crew, as the current situation is simply unsustainable for the whole sector."

The Bridge Theatre has also announced that it will suspend upcoming performances of Bach & Sons up to and including 17 July because of a suspected Covid-19 case within the production team.

Customers should email boxoffice@bridgetheatre.co.uk or call 0333 320 0051 where they will be offered an exchange, credit or refund.
