Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s The Magic of Christmas to be released as a filmed live performance

The Magic of Christmas

Pitlochry Festival Theatre, in association with Macrobert Arts Centre, are bringing Christmas into your home this festive period with their production The Magic of Christmas, written by Elizabeth Newman and Russell Beard.

This seasonal treat follows cheeky Christmas elves Lari and Hari as they find themselves on a daring quest to retrieve the North Star in time for Christmas Eve. The production promises story, music, surprises and fun for all the family!

One of the show’s writers and Artistic Director of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Elizabeth Newman, is thrilled to be able to share the production with audiences, saying: “We are passionate about bringing Christmas light, hope and joy to as many people as possible.”

To comply with latest regulations and ensure that the show may still go on, the show will be available to Pitlochry Festival Theatre ticket-bookers from 9-23 December and on the big screen at the Macrobert Arts Centre from the 11-21 December. The producers also hope to bring the enchanting new film to schools in the communities of Stirling and Perth & Kinross.

The Pitlochry Theatre’s picturesque Explorers’ Garden will host a spectacular, outdoor, promenade installation for those ticket-holders eligible to travel to the area. Julie Ellen, Artistic Director of Macrobert Arts Centre shared her excitement about the installation: “As well as being wonderful performance makers, our friends at Pitlochry Festival Theatre are custodians of the Explorers Garden Visitor Attraction, a unique spot where The Magic of Christmas can be summoned up this year. Sharing experiences with the people we share our lives with is truly precious, especially during the Festive Season.” The installation features in the film and will adhere to all COVID-19 safety measures.

The Magic of Christmas will feature sound design by Ben Occhipinti, music by Barbara Hockaday and lighting designed by Jeanine Byrne. Casting will be announced shortly.
