A number of pilot events have been set up by the government to assess how both small and large scale events can reopen safely in June under the current roadmap plans.

The government will be working with event organisers and local authorities as part of the Event Research Programme, with major events lined up to include the World Snooker Championships at the Sheffield Crucible (testing a theatre setting), and the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Liverpool will be part of the pilot programme with test events being lined up at a nightclub, comedy club and business events venue.

Venues taking part in the study will test specific settings to collect evidence and best practice, with the layout of the venue, face coverings and ventilation being tested.

Those attending the events will be required to have a negative test before the event and will also be tested afterwards to monitor any transmission.

Transport getting to and from events, event duration and catering/alcohol will also be looked at.
