The Old Vic has today announced two specially commissioned monologues for ‘Queers’, created for Pride Month by Mark Gatiss.

‘I Threw It’, written by Travis Alabanza will be performed by Kim Tatum AKA Mzz Kimberley, and ‘Bee’, written by Jade Anouka will be performed by Pearl Mackie. Both will be directed by Sean Linnen and both will be available for free of The Old Vic’s YouTube channel from 30 Jun.

‘Queers’, curated by Mark Gatiss, was originally commissioned back in 2017 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act from the perspective of those whose lives it affected. These two new stories are from the wider LGBTQ+ community. It is part of ‘One Voice’, conceived by Artistic Director Matthew Warchus. This series of specially commissioned monologues is designed to celebrate the most raw of theatre forms, a single voice on a stage without scenery, without costume and nothing to rely on but words.
