Best known for playing the original Hermione Granger in the stage production of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child in the West End and on Broadway, it has been reported that Noma Dumezweni will be joining the cast of Disney’s live action film adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

Most recently seen in HBO’s hit series The Undoing alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, Dumezweni will take on a newly created role in the upcoming film.

Previously announced cast members include Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula and Javier Bardem as King Triton.

The Little Mermaid will be directed by Rob Marshall with a screenplay by David Magee. It will feature songs from the original 1989 animated film, along with some new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

There is currently no set release date due to delays in filming commencing.
