New web series The Theatre Channel launches from the Theatre Cafe
Adam Blanshay Productions has announced the release date for The Theatre Channel, a brand new musical theatre web series. Performed by a range of British and international stars at The Theatre Cafe itself in the heart of the West End, each episode will feature stand-alone songs ordinarily set in a cafe, bar or restaurant. Filming takes place across the Cafe, including everywhere from the bar area to the roof!
Producer Adam Blanshay said, “In the wake of Global theatre closures, it’s been a very emotional and beautiful few weeks to have had the humbling privilege of assembling with theatre artists and creatives, creating a platform to enable them to express their gifts and talents...The Theatre Channel is committed to celebrate everything beautiful and magical about theatre, and we hope will inspire imaginations across the Globe.”
The first show will feature:
Tarinn Callender (Hamilton) singing ‘On Broadway’ from Smokey Joe’s Cafe.
Carrie Hope Fletcher (Heathers) and Oliver Ormson (The Addams Family) singing ‘Suddenly Seymour’ from Little Shop of Horrors.
Matt Henry MBE (Kinky Boots) singing ‘Let it Sing’ from Violet.
Lucie Jones (Waitress) singing ‘Maybe This Time’ from Cabaret.
Jenna Russell (Sunday in the Park with George) singing ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ from Company.
Jodie Steele (Six) singing ‘Heaven on Their Minds’ from Jesus Christ Superstar.
The Cafe Four, an ensemble of other West End actors, will also have a supporting role. They are: Alyn Hawke (42nd Street), Emily Langham (West Side Story), Sadie-Jean Shirley (Aladdin), and Alex Woodward (Hairspray).
The Theatre Channel is co-produced by Adam Blanshay Productions and The Theatre Cafe, with direction and choreography by Bull Deamer and musical supervision by Michael England. Other creatives include: set and costume designer Gregor Donnelly, lighting designer Jack Weir, sound designer Keegan Curran, videographer Ben Hewis, and hair and make-up by Diana Hudson.
The first episode will launch on Friday 2 October via The Theatre Cafe’s website. Tickets cost £12 and once purchased, audiences will be able to watch the video unlimited times. Another four episodes are currently in the works, with the second event having a Halloween theme. Further details are yet to be announced.
