New nationwide campaign ‘TuneUp Tuesday’ launched to promote careers in the arts

TuneUp

A new nationwide campaign has been launched today to promote careers in the arts, entitled ‘TuneUp Tuesday’. The scheme will feature many creatives from all walks of life working in partnership with state schools across the UK, emphasising the viability of careers in the arts.

Hamilton Musical Director Alex Lacamoire, Director Michael Grandage, set and costume designer Gabriella Slade and musician Yshani Perinpanayagam will be lending their support to the campaign, alongside performers Giles Terera, Greg Davies, Darcey Bussell and Aimie Atkinson.

The event, taking place today, will allow 100,000 students from around the world to join in with this online event, connecting them in the power of the creative arts. The day will highlight how vital the arts are in our culture and how important it is that they are protected through the pandemic, whilst continuing to encourage young people to pursue a career in this amazing industry.

The day will be split into three sections, Upskill, Uplift and Upcoming. In Upskill, all students will have access to a library of 5 minute activities aimed to develop their artistic skills. The content will be provided by leading industry professionals in music, drama, art, design, poetry, screen writing and more. In Uplift, the students will have the opportunity to experience the uplifting power of a performance event, streaming into their schools.

In Upcoming, successful practitioners will share the stories of their career paths, offering advice and training routes, showcasing the variety of roles and opportunities in the profession.
