New musical RUMI to receive premiere at London Coliseum

The semi-staged premiere of new musical Rumi will take place on 23 & 24 November 2021 at the London Coliseum.

News of the musical was originally reported in March this year. Rumi is inspired by the life of the acclaimed poet from which the show takes its name and his relationship with his mentor Shams Tabrizi, featuring lyrics from Rumi's poetry.

The show has music by Dana Al Fardan and Nadim Naaman and is based on a story by Evren Sharma, with direction by Bronagh Lagan, orchestrations and arrangements by Joe Davison, ocal arrangements by Nikki Davison, choreography by Anjali Mehra, and Middle Eastern musical supervision by Maias Aylamani.

The cast includesRamin Karimloo as Shams Tabrizi and Naaman as Rumi, with Casey Al-Shaqsy as Kimya and Soophia Foroughi as Kara. Further casting will be announced in due course.

Tickets go on sale on 14 September 2021.
