London production of Moulin Rouge! postponed until Autumn 2021
The eagerly anticipated West End stage premiere of Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been postponed until Autumn 2021.
In a statement made today, it said: "We're moving our London performance dates to Autumn 2021 to ensure the show is perfectly SPECTACULAR when it arrives! We cannot wait to see the West End shine bright like a diamond once more. To Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love! "
Currently the production’s creative team are not able to come together and therefore they do not wish to “rush important creative decisions” and want to ensure that “London gets the production it deserves”.
Producer Carmen Pavlovic said: "Whilst we're disappointed to be opening a little later than originally planned, we are committed to bringing Moulin Rouge! The Musical to London and look forward to being part of a revived West End."
Based on the 2001 film of the same name, the stage production has a book by John Logan, is directed by Alex Timbers and choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, with set design by Derek McLane, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Justin Townsend and sound by Peter Hylenski.
Casting and specific show dates for the West End production are to be announced, but those who have already signed up for priority access on the show’s website will be informed when tickets go on sale.
