The Lawrence Batley Theatre has today announced its Autumn season which will include world premieres and its annual community production.

‘Chronicles’ a brand new commission by award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke will open the autumn season at the Huddersfield venue. This new piece combines live dance, projection, music and spoken word using the building as a backdrop for an experience which will take audiences through the history of the theatre. ‘Chronicles’ opens on 1 September for five performances.

Musical Comedy duo Frisky & Mannish will play two live performances in September and will return later in the year with ‘Popcorn’, the Lawrence Batley Theatre digital commission, which will see the duo draw on pop culture film references combined with their comedic music style streaming 1 to 14 November.

The new season also sees the return of the 24 hour plays, which sees six writers, six directors, six producers and 24 actors coming together to write, rehearse, stage and perform six new plays to a live audience on Saturday 2 October. ‘Macbeth’ will be the venue’s annual community production this year, directed by Olivia Race, bringing together over 90 members of the community for three performances from 7 to 9 October.

Other highlights of this new season include touring productions of ‘Fascinating Aida;, ‘The Trail’ and ‘Who cares’ along with family friendly productions of ‘Spontaneous Potter Kidz’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and comedy performances from Lost Voice Guy and Daliso Chaponda.
