Juliet Stevenson joins cast of ENO’s THE HANDMAID’S TALE
Award-winning actress Juliet Stevenson will join the cast of English National Opera’s (ENO) operatic adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, which returns to the London Coliseum from 1-15 February.
Stevenson plays Professor Pieixoto, a non-singing role, who is a historian and the director of the 20th and 21st-century archives at Cambridge University. She will join Kate Lindsey as Offred, Rachel Nicholls as Aunt Lydia, and James Creswell as the Commander, with Nadine Benjamin, Zwakele Tshabalala, Rhian Lois, Eleanor Dennis, Madeleine Shaw, Alan Oke, Susan Bickley, John Findon, and Annabella Vesela Ellis.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s seminal novel and composed by Poul Ruders, The Handmaid’s Tale is directed by Annilese Miskimmon with revival direction by James Hurley, conducted by Joana Carneiro, set and costume design by Annemarie Woods, original lighting by Paule Constable, revival lighting by Marc Rosette, original movement direction and intimacy coordination by Imogen Knight, revival movement direction by Anjali Mehra, video design by Akhila Krishnan, sound by Yvonne Gilbert, and a libretto by Paul Bentley.
