The Hope Mill Theatre have today announced that they are developing a new musical called ‘Something to Prove’.

The Musical will be based on Julia Faye Smith’s biography of the same name which tells the story of Ann who born in Alabama in 1898 became the first noted African American fashion designer.

Lowe created one-of-a-kind designs, most famously designing the ivory silk taffeta wedding dress worn by Jacqueline Bouvier when she married John.F. Kennedy in 1953.

Joseph Houston the artistic director for the piece had this to say: “I knew we had to tell this story in the best way we know how, through the power of musical theatre. We are in the very early stages of development, having just optioned the book, Something to Prove, and we are currently in the process of putting together our initial team to bring this important story to the stage.”
