Hollywood casting revealed for Netflix’s new animated musical Pinocchio

Ewan McGregor, Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton are just a few of the star names confirmed to lend their voices to Netflix’s new animated musical, Pinocchio.

Directed by Guillermo Del Toro, this version will be set during the rise of fascism in Mussolini’s Italy. It is not associated with the upcoming Disney film adaptation, which Tom Hanks has expressed interest being a part of.

As well as McGregor (playing Cricket), Blanchett and Swinton, the Netflix animation will also feature David Bradley as Gepetto, Gregory Mann in the title role, Finn Wolfhard, Christoph Waltz, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burn Gorman.

Pinocchio will be co-directed by Del Toro and Mark Gustafson with music by Alexandre Desplat. Del Toro has also penned the script with Patrick McHale and co-written the lyrics.
