Further details have been announced for the eight-episode Beauty and the Beast prequel series, which is set to land on Disney Plus in the near future.

As previously announced, Josh Gad will star as LeFou (or Louie in the series) and Luke Evans as Gaston, who will both reprise their roles from the 2017 film. Briana Middleton has also been announced to play LeFou’s stepsister, Tilly.

Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbours many secrets.

Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy has been named as an executive producer and will direct the first episode. Alan Menken will also executive produce and write new music for the series, with Glenn Slater writing lyrics for the first episode.

Sounds awesome, Besties!
