Casting announced for THE BOY WITH THE BEE JAR at the Hope Theatre
Casting has been announced today for the first show that will reopen the Hope Theatre, The Boy with the Bee Jar.
John Straiton’s play will open on 29 June and run until 17 July, with Colin Hurley playing ‘Euston’ opposite George Rowlands as ‘The Boy’.
The Boy With The Bee Jar tells the story of an environmentally friendly schoolboy who feels lost with his father no longer around. In the estate’s playground, he is drawn to an old anarcho-punk called Euston, who is the sole witness to a horrific crime. As the city and its residents tear one another apart, these two misfits form an unexpected alliance. Realising that each holds the key to each other’s salvation.
The play will be directed by Philip Wilson and will feature Hurley, who has previously appeared in theatre productions all over the world and as part of the 2019 Globe Ensemble, with his last appearance being in their 2020 version of The Taming of the Shrew.
Rowlands will be graduating from Rose Bruford College in July and has stacked up a few theatre credits whilst training including, ‘B’ in Alice Birch’s [BLANK], and Tommy in Parliament Square (performed at the Unicorn Theatre) as his final shows before graduation.
