Full casting announced for Wise Children’s BAGDAD CAFE at the Old Vic
Full casting has been announced for Wise Children’s Bagdad Café at the Old Vic Theatre, running from 17 July-21 August 2021.
Based on the 1987 film, the piece is adapted and directed by Emma Rice. The production will play to a live audience as well as being broadcast live from 25-28 August, as part of the Old Vic’s In Camera series.
The cast includes: Nandi Bhebhe, Le Gateau Chocolat, Bettrys Jones, Patrycja Kujawska, Nadine Lee, Sandra Marvin, Kandaka Moore, Renell Shaw, Gareth Snook and Ewan Wardrop.
Set alongside the legendary Route 66, the story sees two women thrown together by chance. Stranded tourist Jasmin stumbles out of her unhappy marriage and finds herself at Brenda's remote cafe and motel.
Bagdad Café features music by Ian Ross, lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, broadcast sound and video by Simon Baker, choreography by Etta Murfitt, and musical direction by Nadine Lee.
