The full cast of the upcoming filmed stage production of Disney’s Aladdin has been announced.

As previously reported at the end of July, Disney’s hit musical was filmed before its closure in London last year. It will be streamed on Disney+ on a date expected to be confirmed soon.

Starring as Aladdin will be Australian actor Ainsley Melham who has performed the role, both in Australia and on Broadway. He is probably best known for being a former member of Australian children's musical group Hi-5.

Trevor Dion Nicholas will play the Genie, a character he played in the London production since its opening in 2016 and prior to this on Broadway.

American singer and actress Isabelle McCalla will play Princess Jasmine; a role she also played on Broadway. She is best known for playing Alyssa Greene in the Broadway musical The Prom. Jasmine's Father, the Sultan, will be played by Irvine Iqbal, who has appeared in the West End production at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Jonathan Freeman will perform as Jafar. He is an American actor, voice artist, singer and puppeteer who actually voiced the character for the Aladdin film franchise! His sidekick, Iago, will be played by Don Darryl Rivera, who has performed as the ‘talking parrot’ for the last nine years onstage.

Aladdin's loyal friends will be performed by Brian Gonzales (the original Babkak on Broadway), Robert Tripolino (Omar in the Australian tour) and Brandon O’Neill (the original Kassim on Broadway and in Seattle).

The ensemble cast will be made up of Angeline Bell, Robertina Bonano, Paje Campbell, Lauren Chia, Bianca Cordice, Reece Darlington-Delaire, Kade Ferraiolo, Tarik Frimpong, Patrick John, Antony Hewitt, Abigail Johnson, Dann Kharsa, Victoria Layzell, Ethan Le Phong, Richard Murphy, Ian Oswald, Alex Pinder, Tarisha Rommick, Kyle Seeley, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Dominic Sibanda, Kayleigh Thadani, Justin Thomas and Damien Winchester.

The filmed production was meant to be released earlier this year but was pushed back when Hamilton was fast tracked for early release on the streaming platform.

Disney’s Aladdin onstage has a book by Chad Beguelin with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin.

Could we be any more excited, Besties?!
