Filming for WICKED movie relocated to the UK

It has been announced that the filming of the eagerly anticipated movie adaptation of Wicked will relocate to the UK, making it the first film to shoot at the newly built Sky Studios in Elstree.

Filming was set to commence in Atlanta in March 2022 but is now expected to start in June 2022. The Hollywood Reporter has cited that this delay and relocation will allow the filmmakers to “get production efficiencies in-line.”

Whilst the project still doesn’t have an official green light, the producers and director Jon M. Chu have been told to proceed.

With these dates in mind, a 2023 cinematic release date is looking likely.
