Film adaptation of MATILDA THE MUSICAL to be released in UK cinemas in December 2022

According to Variety, the film adaptation of Matilda the Musical will enjoy an exclusive theatrical release from 2 December 2022 in the UK and Ireland, with the rest of the world being able to view the film on Netflix later that month.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, the film stars Alisha Weir in the title role, alongside Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey, Stephen Graham as Mr Wormwood, Andrea Riseborough as Mrs. Wormwood and comedienne Sindhu Vee as librarian Mrs. Phelps.

Dennis Kelly has adapted the screenplay from his book of the musical, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
