Disney’s Mulan live-action remake release date delayed indefinitely
Disney has been forced to pause release plans for their live-action remake of Mulan, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
This delay marks the fourth time that Mulan has been “bumped”, having originally been scheduled for release on 27 March 2020.
A Disney spokesperson said: “Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for Mulan as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world.”
Starring Liu Yifei in the title role, Mulan follows a fearless young female warrior who pretends to be a man so she can serve in the military to spare the duty requested of her elderly father. Niki Caro directs the film, which holds the first PG-13 rating for a Disney live-action remake.
