A new vocal ensemble was formed by drama school graduates during lockdown, MVOX, with the aim of bringing new sounds and fresh dimensions to the musical theatre industry.

Launched in November 2020 by Mountview Acting graduate Richard Aaron, he initially embarked on a lockdown project with a single Christmas song. This then developed via a collaboration with Wicked and Come From Away star Alice Fearn, later progressing into an exclusive video series.

Whatsonstage Angel Award winner David Ashford has since offered to sponsor their work and thanks to his generosity, the ensemble have been able to produce their latest project: a thrilling video series of reimagined Musical Theatre classics.

MVox features Richard Aaron (Mountview), Charlie Booker (ArtsEd), Megan Cerys-Holland (The  Arden), Zack Guest (Mountview), Ben Joyce (Mountview), Beth Mabin (RAM) Cassie  McCluskey (Mountview), Jennifer Peters (Mountview), Henry Shine (ArtsEd), Meesha  Turner (RAM), and Karen Wilkinson (Mountview).

Now Producer and Musical Director Richard Aaron said: “MVox started as a passion project for me. I’ve always loved harmony and Musical Theatre, so I  thought it would be exciting to combine the two. We managed to rehearse and create this  project Covid-securely, and working with other graduates affected by the pandemic has  been an absolute pleasure. It’s amazing to have been able to create something fresh and  new during such a difficult and challenging time.”

The music video for their latest recording of 'Defying Gravity’ can be viewed below.

Enjoy, Besties! We love it!
