Curve production of My Beautiful Laundrette to be streamed online

My Beautiful Laundrette

An archive recording of Hanif Kureishi's My Beautiful Laundrette is to be released online by Leicester's Curve Theatre from 2 September at 6pm.

The co-production between Curve, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Everyman Theatre Cheltenham and Leeds Playhouse received multiple award nominations when it premiered at Curve late last year.

The show is based on the Oscar-nominated screenplay of the same name, directed by Nikolai Foster with music by Tennant/Lowe from the Pet Shop Boys.

The footage was captured at the show's dress rehearsal and will be streamed with captions. It will be accessible to watch until the Curve is able to reopen its doors again, along with a recently recorded in-depth digital discussion between cast members Paddy Daly, Kammy Darweish, Hareet Deol, Jonny Fines, Nicole Jebeli, Omar Malik, Balvinder Sopal, Cathy Tyson and Gordon Warnecke, plus Director Nikolai Foster, Writer Hanif Kureishi and Designer Grace Smart.

Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Director Foster said: “Working with Hanif, the acting company and production team on My Beautiful Laundrette was a truly joyful experience for all of us at Curve. Watching the dress rehearsal recording and the team reunion for our In Conversation has been wonderfully enriching. Kureishi’s words remain as vital and important as they ever did. We hope you enjoy spending time with these extraordinary characters and the Q&A session.”
