Curve Leicester has released a statement saying its January productions have regrettably had to be cancelled, amidst uncertainly over ongoing tier restrictions.

The productions affected will be Memoirs of an Asian Football Casual and Hair in Concert. It is hoped that Memoirs will be staged again in the near future, with full refunds available for both shows.

Chief executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said: "Given the continued uncertainty of when Leicester will leave Tier 3, we have made the difficult decision to remain closed to the public throughout January.

"We are sorry productions of Hair the Musical - in Concert and Memoirs of an Asian Football Casual have now been cancelled.

"It goes against all of our instincts to temporarily close the theatre, but the unpredictability around the tier system is not compatible with producing theatre and we cannot continue to invest resources into projects that may not be able to happen."

Later this month, the venue will be streaming a recorded version of Sunset Boulevard, starring Ria Jones and Danny Mac. Tickets are available here. Curve’s production of The Color Purple is still scheduled to go ahead as planned.
