Creatives announced for brand new musical MAYFLIES

York Theatre Royal have announced the creative team for the world premiere of new musical Mayflies, which will run from 28 April-3 May.

The musical is written and composed by Gus Gowland, whose first full-length musical, Pieces of String, was The Stage’s Best Regional Musical of the year and also garnered him The Stage Debut Award for Best Composer/Lyricist.

Mayflies is directed by Tania Azevedo, with design by TK Hay, and musical direction, arrangements and orchestrations by Joseph Church.

Funny, intimate and relatable, Mayflies tells the story of a romantic relationship between May and Fly. After swiping right, left, up and down across the dating apps, May and Fly match. They begin a tentative conversation. Over time their romance grows into something real, something special. Then they meet… Mayflies explores the different versions of themselves that people become during relationships and how – in the blink of an eye – it can all come crashing down.
