It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for, theatres are officially permitted to reopen from 17 May!

The Prime Minister confirmed plans to progress to "step three" in the roadmap in a briefing this afternoon, meaning live performances can continue in a socially distanced fashion, along with other factors including wearing face coverings, temperature checks, enhanced cleaning regimes and increased ventilation. Venues will also be required to alter their capacity to either 1,000 people or 50% of the full house - whichever is lower.

Performers and theatre workers will also receive regular Covid tests.

Selling to full capacity is provisionally set for 21 June, pending on the success of pilot events taking place across the country.

We are so nearly there, Besties!
