It has been announced that Harriet Walter and Sharon D Clarke will star in a series of new plays, produced by Graeae, that will be streamed online with the aim of celebrating Deaf and disabled talent.

The new series of plays follows on from Crips Without Constraints, which was shown online earlier this year. The series includes five new plays written by Rebekah Bowsher, Leanna Benjamin, Karen Featherstone, Jessica Lovett and Kellan Frankland who all took part in Graeae’s Write to Play programme, with all pieces being directed by upcoming disabled directors including Hana Pascal Keegan, Cheryl Martin, Stephen Bailey, Lilac Yosiphon and Alex Whiteley.

All five shows will be filmed on Zoom and will be released weekly every Tuesday between 19 January and 16 February. From 21 January, every Thursday Graeae will release a short filmed conversation with deaf artists in British Sign Language, discussing that week’s play in detail.

Graeae Associate Director Nickie Miles-Wildin said: “It’s exciting that disabled writers are being given the platform they deserve.”
