Cast announced for NOTES ON GRIEF at Manchester International Festival

Notes on Grief cast

Casting has been revealed for the stage version of Notes on Grief today, in preparation for their run at Manchester International Festival from 5-17 July.

The show, written by Chimanmanda Ngozi Adichie, is a reflection of family, love and loss, grew out of an essay written at the loss of her father, which was a poignant meditation to the meaning, impact and nature of grief.

Directed by Rae Mcken, the words will be transferred to the stage and performed by Michelle Asante, Uche Abuah and Itoya Osagiede. Asante will take on the role of ‘Woman A’, having recently been seen as Officer Dooshima in the BBC adaptation of Malorie Blackmans Noughts and Crosses. Abuah will play ‘Woman B’ and Osagiede will play ‘Man’.

Notes on Grief will provide a space for people to come along and explore ways to show and deal with their own grief through Adichie’s words and experiences as a self-confessed daddy’s girl remembers her father.

Adichie was born in Nigeria and is the author of novels, Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun.
